James Luther Rutter Sr, of Floyd, passed away on November 18, 2019. He is survived by his wife; Dorothy, sons; James Jr., Jeffery, Michael, Christopher, grandchildren; Stephanie, Zachary, sister; Christene and brother-in-law Arnold, along with many nieces, nephews and church family. Extended family; Steve, Keith, Christian, Kasey, Josh, Bob, and Holly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 30, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Christiansburg Church of the Brethren. Family will receive friends half an hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, Floyd County Rescue Squad, or Christiansburg Church of the Brethren Music Department. John 3:16

I have a lot of fond memories with your family. I can hear Jim laughing now. He was such a great man and I know you are all hurting with his loss. May God bless you all! You have my sincere condolences! Love, April

Jimmy & I were classmates "back in the day". After school days I lost track of him for many years, so it was good to see him at our 50th, and later, class reunions. I liked Jimmy a lot. I was glad to know that he lived a good life with a wonderful wife and family. My sympathy goes out to them, and to all who knew him. To know Jimmy was to love him. God knew him, and now they can share their love for each other. To the family I say, "Remember the good times, and smile." I think Jimmy would want you to do that. For me, I was an honor to know him, and to renew our friendship at the reunions.
