Judith “Judy” Ravan

June 29, 1950 - April 15, 2020

Judith “Judy” Ravan, 69, of Copper Hill, passed away in her home on Wednesday April 15th, 2020. Judy was born on June 29th, 1950 to Wade and Mary Poff, she was the first of five girls. She married the love of her life, Cecil Jesse Ravan on October 16th, 1976. There is no way to list all the loved ones she left behind. You didn’t need to be family for her to love you like you were. She was as close to perfect as a person could be, to know her was to love her. She never withheld her love; she gave it freely and openly and with exuberance. She was the life of all the family gatherings and to say she leaves a hole in our family is an understatement. The family plans to have a memorial service at a later date to truly celebrate the memory she left behind.

I have been thinking about Judy so much since I heard of her sudden passing. She was always such a good friend. Our lives led us in different directions after high school so I only saw her occasionally. We had just began to reconnect during the past year and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her again. My thoughts and prayers are with the family as we all mourn her passing.

So Sorry for your loss. May God put his arms around you, and yours as you heal. Judy was one of four of us that were buddies in school, Sue, Louise, Judy and myself. We had some good times. The bond was there then and now. She was part of the Check Chicks luncheon every month. She enjoyed seeing everyone that came. She talked about her family lovingly, Laugh, and giggled. Condolences to the family. Judy was a loving, kind and lovely friend. We will miss her and her ability to make everyone feel loved. Judy was always fun to be around, creative, and just loved all her “babies”! Judy loved taking care & watching her babies grow and become adults. Just wanted to give my condolences to the family of Judy. I've gotten to know Judy through the church ever since I was a little girl. But just in the last few years I was closer to her. She had the most positive attitude and she was such a bright and cheerful person. I will miss her.

Since returning to Virginia I had the opportunity to get reacquainted with her as a former high school classmate and friend. Condolences to the family and all who knew her. Judy was a classmate and close friend of mine. Judy, Doris, Sue, and I spent a lot of time together. Several years ago we started meeting for lunch once a month. We called ourselves the Check Chicks. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Judy was a dear friend and cousin to me (Nancy King Page)and I will miss seeing her smiling face at the luncheons we would meet for in our little group of Check Chicks. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. We have been tied up with Daddys funeral and didn't know about this at all. I just saw her at the store the other day and we talked a little while. So sorry to hear about this wonderful families loss. I remember all five of you girls and the fun times we all had at "Myrtles Beach" in the summer. I know Judy was the one that always drove you all over there and made sure you were safe. I can't imagine your sadness and offer my deepest condolences to you all.

I remember Judy so fondly - she was always so kind to me - even when I was a bratty teenager. Judy was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed. I am sending love to her family.

Hi Kathy, Cindy, and Candy, Judy was certainly one of the most loving people I have ever met. From the days she used to save me a bus seat and entertain me all the way to Check to our last meeting at the fabric store, she always was a bright spot whenever you were in her presence. I am truly sorry for her loss in our world.

I am so sorry CJ to hear of Judy passing. We had such fun together at the National Optometric xmas parties and when she came in for her eye exam with OLS. She just lit up a room with her infectious smile and laugh. Hugs to you and your family CJ.
