Richard Carol Kirby

July 29, 1939 - February 03, 2021

Richard Carol Kirby went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 3, 2021. He was born in Rainelle, West Virginia, July 29, 1939 to Clarence and Rosa Kirby. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Shelba of 50 years, his parents and several siblings. He is survived by three sisters, Glenna Fitzwater, Sylvia McGuire and Patricia Miller, his son, Clifton Kirby (Erin), daughter Angela Conner (Wayne) and grandchildren Troy Kirby (Summer), Kyle Kirby (Leah), Eric Kirby, Jonathan Conner (Lauren), Brooke Conner-Tsang (Aaron), great-grandchildren Ryelynn, Arie, Lily, Marcus, Elysian, Saige, Ivory and Emberlyn. Richard was a man of great faith. Prayer was his gift. When he lifted his voice to the Lord a boldness arose that was also humble and worshipful. We will miss those beautiful prayers of blessing on our family and our church, Little River Baptist. He retired from Virginia Church Furniture, where he enjoyed woodworking and continued that as a hobby for many years after retirement. He was a collector of many things and enjoyed life in Floyd County. We will miss him so much, but we are happy that he is once again reunited with mama, the love of his life. Special thank you to Teresa Tunstall, who has been not only a caregiver, but a wonderful friend for the last few years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 6, 2021 at Little River Baptist Church at 11am with Pastor Billy Johnson and Pastor Bradley Turner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. . If you choose to come to the services, please wear a face mask inside of the facilities due to COVID-19.

This is Frits Brady. I knew Richard, for many years. Mainly because Shelba worked at the nursing home with me. Even though we were not blood family, I considered them family to me. We had many laughs together. I have known Clifton and Erin, for many years. I’ve met Angela and her husband Wayne, at least once. Also I enjoyed, talking to Shelba and Richard about The Bible, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. Mainly talking about being saved through the blood of Jesus Christ. So I’m so glad that I knew them. May God Bless All Of You In The Name Of Jesus Christ.

Sending love and prayers to Clifton and Angela during this sad time. A special Thank you to Angela for all your love and support shown to Grace. Losing a parent/grandparent is never easy, but so thankful they are “sitting at the newcomers table” together.
