Macie Ellen Conner

April 14, 1937 - October 27, 2021

Macie Ellen Conner, 84 of Copper Hill, VA was a kind soul who loved her family more than anything else. She was a wonderful mother to her four children and a loving wife to her late husband James. She was always there to care for her family until many health issues impacted her ability to do so and her family then cared for her. The most impactful of these health issues was Alzheimer’s and it’s deteriorating effects. Macie was a faithful person who trusted in God and believed that good would always prevail. She was preceded in death by her husband James Conner, parents John Phillp and Virginia Austin, sister Marie Howell, brother Neil Austin, niece Shelby Austin and son-in-law John Poff. Survivors include daughters: Elizabeth Perdue (Jay), Sue Poff, Freda Burr (Bryan), son Rickie Conner. Grandchildren: Amanda Allen, Ann Carpenter, Sheri Poff, Matthew Poff, Willow Burr. Step-Grandchildren Tammy Holland and Tony Perdue,. Great-grandchildren: Jacob Turner, Anthony Allen, Michael Allen, A.J. Poff. Step-Great Grandson Jackson Holland, Great-great grandson Zayden Allen. Many nieces, nephews and extended family. Special thank you to her daughters Sue and Elizabeth for their constant, unwavering loving care for Macie over the past several years. Also, thank you to granddaughter Amanda, niece Janet, son Rickie and daughter Freda for also extending their loving care for Macie during her more recent struggles with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Many thanks to Carilion Hospice for their kind support during her final precious days with her family. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 30th, 2021, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Gardner Funeral Home at 202 E Oxford St, Floyd, VA 24091. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Macie Ellen Conner will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor Greg Fleshman officiating at Gardner Funeral Home on Saturday, October 30th, 2021. Macie will then be laid to rest beside her love, James, at Salem Church Cemetery in Copper Hill, VA.
