George Ellis G.E. Peters

April 11, 1940 - April 04, 2024

George Ellis (G.E.) Peters, 83, of Copper Hill, passed away at home surrounded by his family on April 4, 2024. He graduated from Check High School in 1958, served in the US Navy for 1960-1966, worked for Richards Auto Alignment 1966-1976, and worked for Roanoke Electric Steel from 1976-2007. During his retirement he enjoyed many of the activities that his grandchildren participated in. G.E was a member of the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hobert Peters and Clara Artokie Peters; siblings: Christine Richards, Curtis Peters, Shirley Peters, Raymond Peters, Junior Peters.

Survived by wife of 59 years: Joyce Conner Peters; Sons: Greg Peters (C.J.), Moneta, VA, Mark Peters (Karen), Copper Hill, VA; grandchildren: Cole Peters (Alexa), Moneta, VA, Joshua Peters, Copper Hill, VA, Leann Hill (Robert), Moneta, VA, Steven Peters, Copper Hill, VA; great grandchildren: Declan, Knox, Brody; sisters: Jean Willis, Moneta, VA, Carolyn Salley (Ken), Moneta, VA, Marie Kelley, Suffolk, VA, many nieces and nephews that were all special to him.

Funeral services will be Monday April 8^th at 2:00 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Vest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday April 7, 2024 from 2 until 4PM at Gardner Funeral Home.

Special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for the care that G.E. received, especially: Shannon, Teresa, and Hilea.
