Jerry Lee Sumpter

April 16, 1953 - August 23, 2024

Jerry Lee Sumpter, age 71 of Floyd, Virginia went to be with the Lord on August 23rd, 2024. He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Kim (Chris) Bond, Amy (William) Wirt, and Brad (Justina) Sumpter; six grandchildren: Alena (Trevor), Ryne, Katie, Chloe, Aubrey and Emery; two brothers: Morris and Richard Sumpter; and beloved dog Charlie.

Jerry, a life-long resident of Floyd, lived a quiet life, thankful for the things he had, not envious of the things he didn’t. Jerry’s children will remember him as someone who preferred to live his life in the background, not seeking to be front and center. They’ll remember him as someone who would put his head down and get to work, even if he was tired. Perhaps most importantly, Jerry’s children will remember him as someone who made them laugh, even in difficult times.

The family will receive family and friends on August 26th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Gardner’s Funeral Home.
