Walter Richard Sumpter

September 06, 1950 - March 24, 2025

Walter Richard Sumpter Jr., 74, of Floyd, passed away Monday March 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter Richard Sr. and Gladys Sumpter; one brother: Jerry Sumpter. Survived by Brother: Morris Sumpter; nieces and nephew: Kim (Chris) Bond, Amy (William) Wirt, and Brad (Justina) Sumpter. Six great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Camp Creek Cemetery with Pastor Richard Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at Gardner Funeral Home on Wednesday March 26, 2025 from 5 until 7 PM. 

Prayers for each of you during this time. He was a very sweet and kind man.

Richard will be greatly missed.
