Matthew Thomas Dooley

Matthew Thomas Dooley was born on October 10, 1975, to Maureen Fitzgerald Wood and Thomas Dooley in Plainview, NY. Matthew’s work life was behind the wheel of heavy wreckers and tow trucks. Most recently he enjoyed working for Bell’s Towing and loved his job. In his free time, he enjoyed racing, horses, and spending time with his family. Especially on derby day! Matt resided in Willis since his moving to Virginia in 2014. Matt and Tina knew they had met the love of their lives in 2015. They were married on September 7, 2024. Matt was easy-going, happy, and never met a stranger. Matt was preceded in death by his Pops: Thomas Patrick Fitzgerald; Gram: Margaret Mary Carmen; Patrick Fitzgerald, Jr., and Kathleen Ann O’Rourke. He is survived by Mother: Maureen Fitzgerald Wood; his father and step-mother: Thomas Dooley and Linda Seeback; brother: Brian Dooley (Jamie); sister: Amanda Wood; his beloved wife: Tina Vaughn Dooley; his loved children: Matthew Reinhardt, Kristen Faulk (Dooley) and Danielle Faulk; his pride and joy fur babies: Buster, “Shop Cat”, Jake, and his quarter horse Bullitt; aunts and uncles: Eilleen & Jimmy Pangarliotas, Peggy Breton, Virginia & Billy Donlan, Mary Ann & Steve Brennan, Richard Dooley, Patty & John Campbell, Janet Baumgarten and many cousins. father and mother-in-law who loved him as their own: Tom & Sandra Vaughn; Brothers & Sisters-in-Law: John & Amber Vaughn, Sharon & Darrell Quesenberry, Laura Lynne & Clay Coffey; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 2PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Roy Bentley and Ann Boyd Officiating. Interment will follow in Hylton-Vaughn Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Flowers are appreciated but donations are also welcome to New Harvest Ministries in Matthew's memory.

Matthew was a good-hearted man who had an amazing laugh, and his huge heart will be missed by many. Until we meet again Matthew. We know the reunions that are going on in Heaven right now, and we will join you when our time comes.   

Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Matthews family and friends. Our prayers are with them all during this time of great sorrow. God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee.

My condolences to the family, only knew him for a couple years, but we became friends! Sorry for your loss!

We will miss you for the rest of our days. Uncle Jimmy and I were so looking forward to you and Tina coming down and you and Jim racing together and all of us spending time for holidays, etc. That was supposed to be our future. This is unbearable. We love you so much.

Matt, I wish we could’ve spent more time together. The time we did share mostly surrounded the love of my sister and your brother (who we roundly agreed made a fantastic pair). You were funny, gracious and kind, Hard working and patient. You had a mischievous glint in your eye anytime you were about to drop a great joke, and I loved that. Seems far too soon for heaven to collect you. Rest in Peace.

Matthew, how i will miss you. There was so much of life yet to be lived, so many things left to do, so many words left to say. I will miss that funny laugh of yours. Remember Matt, "a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others". You were loved Matthew, and will be missed by so many. Till we see each other again, Rest well and be at peace.

Matt, Thank you for being such a friendly cousin to me throughout my entire life. You were always very kind to me when I was younger, and I will always remember that. The capacity crowd at Gardner's today was just a small reflection of how many people Matt touched in his short time with us. You will be missed my friend- see you again someday in a much better place. I promise we will make sure Tina is always surrounded and protected by our love and support
