Wendell Alden Light

August 16, 1940 - January 11, 2026

Wendell Alden Light, 85, passed away January 11, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Mildred Light, a brother, Ronald Light and his daughter, Amanda Haynes. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Dianne Light and a son Brian Light (Teresa), four grandchildren, Zach Light, Brittany Light, Kendall Haynes, and Keaton Haynes, a sister Doris Correll, two brothers, Melvin Light (Shirley) and Donald Light.

Wendell was employed at RAAP for 30 years, then worked for Montgomery County Public Schools for seven years. He was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Riner.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11am at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd, conducted by Neil Wood and Joel Cox. Interment will be at Iddings Cemetery, Terry's Fork, Virginia. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Dianne and family. Wendell will be missed. He was such a sweet man.

Diane & Brian, We were so sad to hear about Wendell passing away. He was such a light! He was always so positive and cheerful when we spoke to him at church. He will be missed. We are praying for your beautiful family. We love you all!
