Curtis Kenneth Graham Sr.
May 13, 1940 - January 24, 2026
Curtis Kenneth Graham Sr., 85, of Floyd, Passed away peacefully with family by his side holding his hand as he entered the kingdom of Heaven on January 24, 2026.
Kenneth was born May 13, 1940, in Floyd Co. to the late Roy Curtis and Elsie Marie Mannon Graham. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years at the time of her passing Barbara Ann Barton Graham; granddaughter, Jessica Graham Overstreet; sisters-in-law, Joyce J. Graham, Madeline Barton Bishop.
Kenneth was the oldest of five children, having two brothers and two sisters. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all around Floyd Co. and worked alongside his dad cutting timber, always making it look easy. He met the love of his life Barbara and married her in 1960, eventually moving to Shawsville. That is the home where they raised their three wonderful sons and grandchildren. He loved trout and catfishing and was an avid deer and bear hunter, being proud of the numerous “trophies” on the walls of their home.
He worked as a Superintendent for H.T. Bolling for several years, where he was proud of his accomplishments building roads all over the state of VA. He then went on to work at Sisson & Ryan Quarry eventually retiring from there and moving back to Floyd to make it their home at “Ken and Barbs fishpond”. Running the pond and hosting fishing tournaments for the past 40 years was something he really enjoyed but the lifelong friendships he made along the way are some of his most heartfelt memories of that time. He thoroughly enjoyed his time fishing, hunting, and storytelling with his sons, Grandchildren and “hunting buddies” teaching them his knowledge of all the things he enjoyed the most.
Kenneth lived a life of devotion to his faith in God, and to his wife and family. He was a committed and loyal husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His faith was a constant part of his life and had enjoyed many roles serving within the churches he attended throughout his life.
He will be fondly remembered enjoying feeding his ducks, squirrels, and deer at the pond. Enjoying his Long John Silver’s meals and being a “Co-Superintendent” with all three of his sons at Branch Civil Inc.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving sons, Curtis Kenneth Graham Jr. (Kathy), Ricky Edward Graham, Roger Lee Graham; brothers, Dean Graham (Donna), Connie Graham all of Floyd, VA; sisters, Shelby Throckmorton of VA Beach, and Kathy Graham of Nashville, TN.
PawPaw as he was affectionally called leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Becky, Rachel, Lauran, Ricky Jr., Kelsey, Matt, Kasey, Ian, Tyler, Katherine, Chase, Conner; as well as 25 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth also leaves behind a nephew Dana Graham (Leigh Anne); nieces, Denna Harris (Terry), Lisa Willis (Ronnie), Rhonda Saylors (Mike), Melissa Hollins (Darrell). Along with so many other family members, close friends and neighbors.
Special thank you to Cousin Sandy for all the visits to see him and bring him treats and to all the Doctors and nurses in the ICU at Lewis Gale Montgomery for such wonderful compassionate care they gave to him.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 4, 2026, at 11AM, at Gardner Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Bond and Pastor Clyde Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 3, 2026, from 6pm-8pm at Gardner Funeral Home.
Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made in Kenneth’s name to a church or charity of your choice. Or help with supplies at “Ken and Barbs fishpond” would always be welcomed.
