Wanda Lou Nolen

February 19, 1953 - April 24, 2026

Wanda Alderman Nolen, 73, of Floyd, Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026. She was born on February 19, 1953. She dedicated 38 years of service to Hubbell Lighting, where she was known for her strong work ethic and unwavering commitment.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elsie Alderman; her brothers, Clayton Alderman and Jimmy Alderman; her sisters, France Sutphin and Dana Moran; and her in-laws, Morris and Lena Nolen.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robbie Nolen; her sons, Nick Nolen and Wes Nolen; and her cherished grandchildren, Reese and Jaxon Nolen, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her sisters, Gloria Hylton and Renita Meredith (Mac Lynn); her sisters-in-law, Brenda Atkins and Betty Cox (Lakewood); her brother-in-law, Mike Nolen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Wanda’s life was defined by love, kindness, and a deep devotion to others. She had a natural gift for caring for those around her, always putting others first and making sure everyone was okay before thinking of herself. Whether through a simple check-in, a helping hand, or her quiet, steady presence, Wanda made people feel comforted, valued, and truly loved.

To her family, Wanda was more than a wife, mother, and grandmother, she was the heart of the home. She found her greatest happiness in taking care of those she loved, especially her sons and grandchildren. Her love was constant, her strength was quiet, and her presence made everything feel safe and steady.

Wanda’s life was a beautiful reflection of compassion and selflessness. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd on Thursday April 30, 2026, at 1PM, burial will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

I knew Wanda for many years at Hubbell Lighting. I was her supervisor for many of those years. She was always conscious of her work and willing to go that extra mile when I needed her. Always dependable. All that shows the good hearted, kind person Wanda was every day of her life, not just at work. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. She was a good person.
