James "Jim" Lombard

January 08, 1943 - August 16, 2026

James “Jim” Lombard died of a heart attack in his home in Floyd, VA on Sunday, August 16, 2026. He was 83 years old. He is survived by his sons Matthew, of Roanoke, VA and Andrew of Phoenix, AZ, and his trusty schnauzer companion Moses. Jim's wife of over 60 years, Carol, predeceased him in December 2024.

Jim was born in Plattsburgh, NY, and moved to Floyd last year for easier winters and to be near family. He had just joined the Church of the Brethren as a member 2 weeks prior to his passing.

Services in Jim's memory will be held on August 27 at 11 am at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, and in later September at Walkers Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, NY.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren.

Jim was a very sweet man. I meet him through friends when he moved here. Moses was his true companion never leaving his side for very long. I will miss him. May he rest in peace now.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family. Although we had not known Jim long, he was a pleasure to worship with using his beautiful voice to praise God.

Jim and Carol were our Plattsburgh and Brooktondale Camp friends. They were always a bright, cheerful part of our lives. Al and Anitarae Robinson

Jim began attending our church last year and rapidly became a favorite of everyone who met him. His knowledge of the Bible was deep and sincere. His love of music was shared with all of us. He was so talented and eager to participate in our "from the pew" choir. He made close friends with people of all ages. Our church family is grateful that he was with us for a time. We will miss him and never forget him.
