Anthony Glen Quesenberry

May 23, 1965 - September 09, 2026

Anthony Glen Quesenberry, 61, of Indian Valley, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 9, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Anthony was born at New Altamont Hospital in Christiansburg to Glen and Mozell Quesenberry. The youngest of six children, he spent his entire life in Indian Valley—a place he loved deeply and never desired to call anywhere else home. He graduated from Floyd County High School in 1983.

Anthony was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and Papaw. His family was his pride and joy. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren wholeheartedly and supported them in every way he could. So much of what made Anthony special lives on in his treasured daughters and grandchildren—in their personalities, their values, their sense of humor, and the way they love others. He was the center of their world, and they were the center of his.

Anthony had a personality that was impossible to forget. He had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that made you want to laugh right along with him. He never met a stranger. Everywhere he went, he would stop to talk, often finding someone he knew—or making a new friend along the way. He loved to joke, tease, and pick on the people he loved, especially when he knew it would make them laugh. His humor and his ability to make people feel comfortable and welcome left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

 He worked for many years as a material handler at Volvo, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Some of his most meaningful work, however, was done much closer to home, working on the farm and in the garden alongside his mom and dad.

Anthony was a man of strong character and simple values. He believed in earning his own way and had an incredibly giving heart. If someone was in need, Anthony was willing to lend a hand without hesitation. He never sought recognition, praise, or thanks for the kind acts that he did.. He simply helped because that was who he was. Many people were blessed by his kindness and generosity.

Anthony had a kindred spirt with horses, he could ride just about any horse he put a saddle on. He also loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was happiest in the places and with the people that had always been home to him. He never needed much to be content—just his family, the outdoors, a little work to do, and a good story or joke to share.

Those who knew Anthony best will remember not only how hard he worked, but how much he  loved. He loved his family fiercely. He loved his community. He loved the life he had been given. And most importantly, he loved his Lord and Savior.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 39 years: Virginia Quesenberry; his daughters and sons-in-law: Laken and Joey Craighead, Amber and Jordan Powell; his seven grandchildren: Emerson, Sawyer, and Bristol Craighead; Sterling, Finleigh, Charlotte, and Lincoln Anthony Powell, who were the light of his life.

He is also survived by his beloved mother, Mozell Quesenberry; brother Randall Quesenberry (Priscilla); sisters Donna Smith (Charlie), Patsy Turman (Rudy), Trena Stanley (Jamey), and Marietta Quesenberry; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Quesenberry; mother-in-law, Connie Frazier; and nieces, Allison Turman and Breanna Peake.

Anthony leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry his love with them always. His laughter, his stories, his willingness to help, his love for his family, and his peaceful presence on horseback will never be forgotten. Though his time on earth has come to an end, the impact he made on the people he loved will live on through generations.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 13, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Indian Valley Church of God in Indian Valley, Virginia. A funeral service will follow, conducted by Rev. Kenneth Poston. Interment will follow in Capt. George Quesenberry Cemetery.

We considered Anthony a good friend and great family man, always pleasant words and smile. He is missed.

What a treasure he was. He was always so kind and considerate to everyone. Never heard him say anything out of line. He spoke everytime you saw him. Always smiling. Our loss is heavens gain. I picture him with his dad and Ronnie and I can see Ricky and Elizabeth greeting him and all the ones gone on before. Love and prayers from all of us.
