Mavon Thompson, 84, of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. He was born on June 19, 1928 in Dugspur, VA, and was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Prentis Thompson; his son Alan Thompson and wife, Kelly; his grandson, Brent Thompson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Elmon Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gardner Funeral Home one hour prior to the funeral service.
