Goldie Weeks Layne

Goldie Weeks Layne, 90, of Floyd, left her pain behind, and went home to take God’s hand on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Layne, her infant daughter, and four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by one sister, Ethel Dulaney; one sister-in-law, May Bell Weeks. Many nieces and nephews and lots of friends and caregivers who will never forget her jolly laugh also survive. She fought a good fight, and her battle is won; God’s mercy endureth forever. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow at Reedsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday at Gardner Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be made at www.gardnerfuneralhomefloyd.com. Goldie was a very special person in my life and my children's life for many years. Although I had not been in touch with her for quite some time I often thought of her and what a special person she was. God has another angel in heaven to watch over us. You will see her again!
