Gladys Virginia Sumpter Petrie

Gladys V. Sumpter Petrie, 86, of Floyd, passed away Sunday January 25, 2015. Gladys was a lifelong resident of Floyd County, Virginia. She was well loved by her family and will be remembered by all as a strong woman and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by her three sons, Morris Sumpter, Richard Sumpter and Jerry Sumpter; grandchildren and spouses, Kimberly and Chris Bond, Amy and William Wirt, and Brad and Justina Sumpter; five great-grandchildren and sisters Katie Lester and Margret Todd. Funeral services will be Wednesday January 28, 2015 at 11 AM at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jube Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Camp Creek Cemetery.
