Clinton V. Sowers

Clinton V. Sowers, 88, of Christiansburg passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and received a purple heart and a bronze star for his service. Clinton was co-owner of Sowers & Austin for over fifty years. He is preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Lee Sowers, four brothers, Tom, Lindsey, Stanley and Wayne Sowers; sister, Marie Austin. He is survived by his wife, Ilene Reed Sowers; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Cookie Sowers; grandson, J. R. Sowers; sister, Glada Hale; sisters-in-law, Elva and Vera Sowers; special friend, Betty Wright; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd with Rev. Hebron Quesenberry and Rev. Lane Board officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. Military rites will be handled by Floyd VFW Post #7854 and American Legion 127.
