Phyllis Marie Stevenson

September 13, 1943 - September 05, 2015

Phyllis Stevenson, 71, joined her parents, Aaron & Anne Nunn, husband, James E. Stevenson, Sr., brothers Alton and Billy Ray Nunn and sister-in-law, Ruby Stevenson in our heavenly Father’s arms on Saturday September 5, 2015. Phyllis was born in Bassett, Virginia and lived there until she remarried and moved to Check, Virginia which has been home for the last 46 years.  She was full of personality and enjoyed all people. She  held some very interesting jobs throughout her life from building houses to flagging traffic for S&S Paving company also working in the dietary departments at both Skyline Manor and Montgomery Regional Hospital to finally retiring from Walmart after 15 years with retail, these were only a few of a list of jobs, but above all else she worked her entire life. Left here to keep her memories are her daughter Sharon F. Young (husband, Keith) son James E. Stevenson, Jr. (wife, Angie) granddaughters Dana, Sheena, Mekaila and Kara Young, great-grandchildren, Lillian, Dylan and Tyler Young also sister-in-laws Delores Nunn, Shirley Fain, and Jean Akers (James), brother-in-laws Donny Stevenson and Pete Stevenson (Katie) also several nieces and nephews, many friends. Service will be held Tuesday September 8, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Randy McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Gardner Funeral Home Monday September 7, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 Condolences to the family may be made at http://www.gardnerfuneralhomefloyd.com. Dana and Family, So sorry to hear of your grandmothers passing. Her journey hear on earth is complete and now she can enjoy eternal rest in a world where there is only love, peace and happiness. I know you will miss her terribly but be reassured she is at peace with her maker. May you find comfort in the coming days through friends, family.
