Joan Patterson Keller

November 18, 1939 - January 17, 2017

Joan Patterson Keller, 77, of Radford, passed away January 17, 2017. Joan was born on Patterson Mountain in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia, to the late Elbert Momen Patterson and Ellen Elizabeth Bland Patterson. She was an R.N., a 1960 graduate of the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital School of Nursing in Clifton Forge, Virginia. Her first nursing job was in Baltimore’s St. Agnes Hospital before she, and her late husband, Charles (Chuck) Keller, settled in the New River Valley. Joan spent the rest of her career working at the old Radford Hospital before retiring from nursing in 1985. She is survived by her son Michael Keller, daughter-in-law Leslie Shiel, beloved granddaughter Jordan Keller, brother-in-law John Harrah, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria and Allan Knappenberger, aunt Hilda Patterson, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12 noon at Gardner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Laurel Branch Cemetery with Reverend Clyde Hylton officiating the graveside service. Friends may call at the Gardner Funeral Home between 11 am and noon prior to family-led readings and remembrances.
