James E. Thornton, 84, of Floyd passed away at his home on Wednesday October 18, 2017. After retiring from Federal Mogul he enjoyed auctioneering for several years. Survived by Wife: Tressie B Thornton; Foster son and wife; Chris and Brie Kochensbarger; Two Granddaughters; Lauren and Chloe Kochensbarger; Numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday October 21 at 11am at Stonewall Methodist Church with Pastor Darren Landon and Pastor Jerry Hylton officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday October 20 after 6pm at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stonewall Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Tressie I am sory to hear the passing of James. I have known James for many years. My Grandmother was his sister and who just passed away in January of this year. Her name was Eva Mae Thornton Brammer Sutphin from Christiansburg. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.
