"Tom" Thomas Vanston O' Neill

September 12, 1942 - November 12, 2019

Thomas Vanston O’Neill of Floyd passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and his dogs on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Tom was a Graduate of Virginia Tech, and he served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant. Tom is preceded in death by his brother, Danny O’Neill. He is survived by his wife Jeanie Harman O’Neill; three children, Doc O’Neill (Jennifer), Jabe O’Neill (Marley), Brennen Wade (Mike); five grandchildren, Sam O’Neill, Thomas O’Neill, Lillie O’Neill, Esme O’Neill, Rory O’Neill; siblings, Matt O’Neill, Shelia Williams, Chris O’Neill, Cathy Frazier; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In honor of Tom and his volunteer work, donations can be made to Plenty! at 192 Elephant Curve Rd NW, Floyd, VA 24091. Plenty! provides meals for families in need. The family would like to sincerely thank the community of Floyd for all their kindness and support. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 7, 2019 at 3 pm at Floyd United Methodist Church. Tom loved his family, his five o’clock, being a member of the Floyd community, and being a member of the Floyd United Methodist Church choir. His kindness, his smile, and his jokes will be missed.

Tom was one of my favorite co-workers at Graham White, always had a joke, a song or a memory to share. His laugh was contagious. His smile was the best. So sorry to hear about his passing. Hope he continues on in heaven with his fun and vivacious personality. Love and prayers to your all

Jeannie, Doc, Jabe, Brennan and family You are in our thoughts and prayers and will remain so! We found out about Tom's illness in the last week and were devastated! Tom was a man with many talents and gifts. His presence made a lasting, positive impression on me and so many who stood beside him personally and professionally through the years. His sense of humor, infectous smile, gift of conversation, strong and purposeful voice, patience and helpfulness will forever be remembered! The residents of Pine Ridge Apartments send their deepest condolences for the loss of a wonderful person. Tom enjoyed delivering the Wednesday meal during the summer to the residents to make sure they had a hot meal. He will be greatly missed. I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I am happy to say he was a dear friend. Tom and I shared many business trips, bicycle rides and a few 5 o'clock celebrations together. Tom's memory will always bring a smile and a story. The family will remain in our thoughts and Prayers.

Your passing came as quite a shock to me. It was an honor to serve with you in the Lions Club. I always appreciated your willingness to move the Club forward. Your sense of humor clearly kept the Club going. I will miss you as I am certain that others will too. Rest In Piece.
