Richard “Ricky” Marshall Gillespie
July 19, 1990 - October 07, 2020
Richard “Ricky” Marshall Gillespie, 30, of Floyd, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. Ricky was full of life, had a vibrant personality and a sweet soul that made everyone love him. Ricky didn’t have a lot of hobbies but the one he did he was dedicated to. Ricky spent most of his time either working on or driving a race car at local short tracks, specifically Franklin County Speedway. Ricky lived life to the fullest. He was out to have a good time, all the time and if you were around him you were going to have a good time. Win, lose or draw Ricky was determined to make sure that everyone around him was laughing and having a good time. Ricky was a one of a kind soul that enriched every life he touched. A person such as Ricky is a rarity and everyone who knew him will admit he made a lasting impression on their lives. He will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on. Ricky was preceded in death by his Mema Lynn, Pawpaw Gene and his Mema Alma. In addition to his friends and fans left to cherish his memory are his mother, Kim and Stephen Schwenk, his father Bobby Gillespie and Candy Nichols, his siblings Caitlin and Tanner, his niece Amelia, his best friend Taylor Jo Thompson, his daughter Layla, his uncle Ernie and Teresa, his cousins Conner, Bradley and Brandon, and his Joyce Racing family. Visitation will be held beginning at 3pm on October 12, 2020 at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd. A graveside service will be held at 11am on October 13, 2020 at Cannaday Cemetery, and family will receive friends afterwards at Franklin County Speedway. If you choose to come to the services, please wear a face mask inside of the facilities due to COVID-19.
