Martin Dean Hylton

April 06, 1963 - December 20, 2023

Martin Dean Hylton, age 60, of Floyd, Virginia, passed on December 20, 2023 into a life free of pain and limitation. He’s walking through heaven now with his dad, Coy Martin Hylton, and grandson Wyatt Dean Risden along with many other family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Vicky Hylton; his mother, Willadean Hodges Hylton; his daughters Jessica Amy Hylton Warren of Riner, Virginia (Jamie) and Dr. Jordan Briana Hylton of Richmond, Virginia (David Risden); his grandchildren, Jaxon Dean Warren, Asa James Warren, Ames Theodore Risden, Parke Edison Risden, and Imogen Ruth Risden; and his sister Lydeana Hylton Martin (Charlie) and niece Shayley Grace Martin.

Martin Dean (“Buck”) was an entrepreneur of many talents: designing and building sawmills with friend Greg Sutphin, starting and running sawmills, traveling the world in search of new business opportunities. It seemed there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix. He loved to pick and carry on. Even when debilitating pain and illness gripped him, he had great joy with his wife, girls and grandchildren. He is missed so much, but we rejoice in his new freedom.

His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 29 at Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church (239 Rock Church Road, Meadows of Dan, Virginia.)

May God grant comfort of precious memories of Martin Dean to all his family. He is remembered as a young boy at Willis Elementary School when I was the principal.
