Nelva Wade Gardner

July 07, 1930 - February 27, 2024

Nelva Wade Gardner, 93, of Floyd, Passed away on February 27, 2024. She was preceded in death by her son, Clyde Smythers; parents, Kyle & Ima Wade; brothers, Bruce Wade, Marvin Wade (Edith); stepson, Tommy Gardner. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Calvin Gardner; granddaughter, Erin Naiman (Jeff); great grandchildren, Kristina Naiman, Ryan Naiman; daughter-in-law, Becky Smythers; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Hower (Bob); stepson, Gerald Gardner (Cathi); Step grandchildren; Gracyn Gardner, Dylan King, Tristan King, along with numerous niece nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024, at 12pm at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Varner officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. There will be a visitation two hours prior to service time.

Nelva was a dear lady, she was a best friend to my sister, Ellen. They worked together for many years at Floyd Garment and continued keeping in touch for the remainder of my sister’s life.

Nelva was my wonderful Grandma. She was also an amazing Great Grandma to our 2 children, Ryan and Kristina. She was a very special person in our lives and will continue to always be in our hearts. We enjoyed every visit with her over the years especially many meals that we shared together. Fortunately we celebrated a lot of her last several birthdays including her special 90th birthday . We are thinking of you in Heaven with my Dad. (Clyde Smythers) You are finally reunited. We love and miss you, but we will always remember all of the the wonderful memories that we shared with you.
