Mary Frances Caldwell Huff
August 26, 1935 - April 09, 2024
Mary Frances Caldwell Huff’s spirit danced into Heaven listening to her favorite song, Harvest Moon by Neil Young on April 9, 2024. As we mourn her loss, we celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Mary touched so many with her warm smile, gentle spirit and youthful personality. In her quiet, unassuming way, the help she gave and the compassion she showed for others was done without the need for recognition but from the kindness in her heart. During adversity and difficult times Mary displayed remarkable strength. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ carried her through life’s challenges, and she taught us the importance of hope, resilience and perseverance.
Mary was preceded in death by her grandson Jackson Colin Sherman, and was the much-loved wife of Albert (Ab), mother of Shannon and husband Alan Sherman, grandmother of Cord and wife Jennifer Sherman and proud as could be great grandmother of Albert Bruce Colin Sherman. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting each one of them. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to gather at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd, VA on April 14, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 for a time of remembrance.
Rather than flowers, please consider donating to either of Mary’s favorite charities; St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Humane Society of Montgomery County.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mary when she worked in the courthouse years ago. She was so incredibly sweet and genuine. I love that she had her favorite music playing as she made her transition to her eternal home. Much love to the family as I can imagine how much they will miss her terribly.

Ab and Shannon I was so shocked to hear of Mary’s passing. I am heartbroken as I know you are. I consider myself lucky to have met and loved her. We had so many good times and laughed…a lot. I will remember her fondly and with a smile on my face. She was that once in a lifetime friend. No matter the time between communication it was like we had just talked the day before. I’ll be out of town, but Kyle will come by to express our condolences. Love both of you.

Dear Ab , Shannon & Cord, I was heartbroken to hear of Mary’s Home-going. She was a precious friend for so many years . I was so shocked & actually have her last call to me recorded on my phone. I was out of town when she left the message & had not returned the call. We shared many memories of Kindergarten days with Jack & Cord. She loved her family so deeply. She will be greatly missed by all. She was such a kind, compassionate lady that always went about doing good to others. Earthly loss is Heavens gain. Love & Prayers. Barbara
