Bernice L. Underwood, 80, of Floyd, departed this life on Friday May 24, 2024, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harlie & Lelia Underwood; sister and brother-in-law: Marie & Buel Bolt; mother-in-law & father-in-law: Melvin & Essie Moran; brother-in-law & spouse: Shirley & Eileen Moran; nieces: Cassie Robinette & Christie Shively. He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Mary M. Underwood; brothers & sisters-in-law: Garfield & Joyce Underwood, Wayne & Brenda Underwood; sister & brother-in-law: Gaye & Austin Harman; in-laws: Vera & Don Shively, Bonnie Skelton & Fiancé Toney Quesenberry, and Betty Moran. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday May 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor James Cockram officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 PM prior to the service.

Hello Mary, I was so sorry to hear about Bernice passing away. I Thought the world of you and Bernice, I worked with you two at Fabric Cutters helping yall clean the building after they ended the work for the day. I started working as a Sub for James Claytor and then they hired me Full Time and I worked under Richard Fox as a Material Goods Handler taking work off the table getting it ready to be shipped out . That is when Richie Pack was Supervisor and then Frank Dowell came on board with us. WOW, where does time go ? Well take care and you will be in my thoughts and prayers always.
