Sue Ann Alban

June 15, 1968 - May 18, 2024

Sue Ann Alban, 55, formerly of Jappatowne, Maryland and Tunnelton, West Virginia, passed away on May 18, 2024, in her home in Copper Hill, Virginia. She was born on June 15, 1968.

Sue was preceded in death by her mother Susan Alban and father Luther Alban.

She is survived by her daughters Kimberly Austin (Langley) and Michelle Smith; sons Joseph Smith and Charles Smith; sister Loretta Bachman; grandchildren Jaden Austin, Issac Carroll, Kellie Austin, Katheryn Austin, Caleb Smith, Junior Austin, Hope Smith; nieces Susan Parks, Grace McCutcheon; nephew Kirk Bachman; husband Billy Smith; friends Donald “Whitey” Taylor, Ronnie Breeden and many other loving family members.

Sue was a modern-day Ellie May Clampett, loved all her animals, family, friends and especially her grandkids. She was a kind, generous woman who helped many people, loved to cook and spend time with her family. Loved her racing family, mostly from Franklin County Speedway and always had a positive outlook on everything.

She remained upbeat and lived her life at her best despite battling cancer multiple times since 2011 and fighting COPD and Emphysema since 2014. She was a fighter until the very end with just one more chemo treatment left in hopes of beating cancer again. The cancer didn’t win, ultimately her body just gave up on her.

The family would like to invite family and friends to a Celebration of Life in her honor on Saturday, June 8th at 1pm at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Virginia.

The family would like to thank Candy Bromfield for her unwavering support during Sue’s final months and helping to get her to her appointments.

Donations to the funeral expenses should be made directly to Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd, Virginia (540) 745-2007.

Our friendship began back in middle school when we met through being in school & developing strong friendship with her sister Loretta. Spent much time together at their home (my 2nd home) with my “2nd family”. Forever in my 💗 dear Sue
