Charles Lemma Kingrea

April 10, 1936 - September 19, 2024

Charles Lemma Kingrea, a beloved member of the Floyd, VA community, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on April 10, 1936, Charles lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love for his family and hometown.

He was a dedicated State Farm agent, serving the Floyd area for many years, where he was known for his integrity and commitment to his clients. His heart for his community extended beyond his professional life. A proud Floydian, Charles held numerous roles in both his church and the community, offering his time and leadership to help those around him. Charles was an avid sports fan, enthusiastically following many teams over the years. For 78 years, Charles rang the bells at Floyd United Methodist Church to ring in the New Year, a tradition that reflected his deep connection to his faith and town.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Alice Kingrea, his loving wife, Shelby Nixon Kingrea, and his sister, Mary Alice Kingrea Byrne. Charles missed Shelby deeply for 12 years, cherishing the time they spent together antiquing and enjoying peaceful moments at their cabin on Little River.

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Kimberly Ingram, and her husband, Richard Ingram. He was a proud grandfather to Brian Ingram (Ashley Ingram), and Amber Ingram (Cole Barrett), and a loving great-grandfather to Everett Ingram.

His legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 11 am, at Floyd United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. There will be a visitation held on Wednesday September 25,2024 from 5PM-7PM at the Floyd United Methodist Church.

Charles & Shelby were the first couple that I met when I moved to Floyd in February 1973 and we remained close friends until the end. Those times together will never be forgotten. Charles is now with his Lord and Shelby through eternity.
