Aubrey Dwight Dancy

March 31, 1950 - September 22, 2024

After a long battle, Aubrey went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday evening, September 22, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Dancy; sister, Ginny Dancy; brother, Claude Dancy; nephews, Dan Agnew, Randy Dancy, and niece, Rhonda Agnew.

Aubrey is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Dancy; daughter, Jennifer Myrick (John) of Dolphin, VA.; son, Nick Dancy of Buena Vista, VA; grandsons, John D Myrick, Andrew P Myrick, both of Dolphin, VA, Knox N Dancy of Buena Vista, VA; sisters, Helen Vaugha n of Carson, VA., Jeanette D Agnew of Floyd, VA.; special son J.R. Brewer of Floyd, VA., and special niece and nephew, Gwen and Brent Hendrick of Floyd. Aubrey is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that were greatly loved along with many cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 25, 2024, at 12PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Flowers will be appreciated, or donations may be made to a charity of your choosing in memory of Aubrey.

To my stand in dad. You were such a treasure to me. After my daddy passed you stepped in and always text me for every birthday holiday mother’s day. You can never know how much those text meant to me. Also too see the endless love you had for Mary and she for you will always remain in my memory. Even if I use to say you were so mushy to her!
