Permela Alberta Weeks
October 08, 1925 - December 22, 2024
Permela Alberta Weeks was born October 8, 1925, and passed away December 22, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, General Fort “Jinks” Weeks; son, Ray Lonzo Weeks; infant daughter, Ruth Ann Weeks; parents, Julian Weeks and Minnie Hylton Weeks. Also her brothers, little Henry, James, Billy and Johnny Weeks.
Surviving are her sons, Richard (Carolyn) Weeks and Raymond (Debbie) Weeks, and daughter-in-law Penny George Weeks. Also her brother, Albert Weeks and sisters, Pauline Repass and Peggy Howell. Her grandchildren, Derek, Megan, Michael, Steven, Jackie, April and Shirley. She leaves behind several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, as well as her very special friends, Hilda Dickerson and Peggy Moles.
Alberta was a force of nature. She was a strong person who had a gift for overcoming challenges with quiet grace and a strong will. She made friends easily and always seemed to know just about everyone, or at least someone in their family. At the age of 99, it became apparent that her work here was done. We will miss her welcoming smile, her love of family, and her knack for making sure everyone had a full plate at family get togethers.
We are grateful for Skyline Nursing and Rehab Center for their loving care for the past three and a half years, and for Good Samaritan Hospice for their brief but very meaningful time with Alberta.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday December 26, 2024, at 12PM Noon at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow at Lester Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

To the family: So sorry to hear about Albertie's passing. I am a daughter of Roy Weeks (brother of Uncle Jinks). I had the opportunity to visit Albertie when I moved to Virginia for a year back in 2017. She was so delightful and filled with stories from the past. She certainly had a full life. I am sure you all will miss her.
