James Earl Link Sr.

August 13, 1940 - January 22, 2025

James Earl Link, Sr, 84, of Check, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 22, 2025. Jim served his community working at local banks, Floyd Co. board of supervisors, and home health. He was a US Air Force Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Rheba Link; sister: Joan Akers; brother: Paul Link. Survived by wife: Peggy Dewald-Link; Children: Sonya Carr (Darrell), James E. Link, Jr. (Geneva), Preston J. Link (Stephanie); seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Betty Reynolds, Mary Richardson, David Link, Brenda Hungate (Carl), Allen Link, Joyce Whitaker (Chris); many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday January 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Darren Landon officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before service time. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity in memory of Jim.

I am so sorry for the loss of James. Sounds like he contributed lots to the community and his fellow man during his lifetime. I know he will be missed by many.

My husband and I met James many years ago in Floyd. He was in insurance at the time. We thought he was a smart and honest person. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family at this time. Sorry for your loss. Patty Weeks

I was so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. Jim was a life long friend, but I always considered him family. I have now lived the Churchville Virginia area and have for over 45 years, but my very first trip here was with Jim. At that time I would have never dreamed of ever living here. I will miss his humorous FB posts for sure. I want to express my deepest sympathy his family and to all who loved him. Rest in peace my friend.
