Amy Charlene Archer

March 12, 1958 - February 06, 2025

The angels came to get Amy Charlene Archer, age 66, on February 6, 2025.

Amy was preceded in death by her parents Sheila Day Smith Archer and Garland Cecil Archer Jr., sister Anita Kirby, infant older brother Randolph Jerome Archer, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her sisters Marcia Archer Tyler and Diane Archer Gannaway; her children Sarah Jazmine Fugate (with son-in-law Kyle Kugler) and Ezekiel Jackson Fugate (with daughter-in-law Vanessa Kitchen Fugate), as well as four beautiful grandchildren ages 11, 9, 9, and 5; nieces Jenna Surface Hayes, Georgia Gannaway Livolsi, Emma Kate Gannaway Hosey, and many great nieces and nephews and beloved cousins.

Growing up on a farm in Draper, Amy loved walking through the woods and along the river. She loved nature and animals, especially dogs and her many kitties. As a child and throughout adulthood, she loved and protected her younger sister and adored and aspired to be like her older sisters. As a mother, she was creative, accepting, and understanding, and she always had time to listen. As a friend, she was funny, mischievous, and caring.

She studied chemistry and biology at King College in Bristol, and she had a lifelong fascination with physics. She was devoted to politics, and she believed that one of the primary roles of our government is to provide a basic level of care to everyone, especially those who have been marginalized.

She loved to read, knit, quilt, and sew. She loved young children. She was kind and generous to everyone she crossed paths with. She considered her neighbors at Pine Ridge Apartments to be her family. She loved music, especially the Grateful Dead.

She left us with these words from 2018:

“My life has been so sweet and I’m grateful for it. Use Jesus as an example of how to treat others. And remember there is wondrous magic in the world.”

An End of Life Ceremony for Amy will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Floyd Center for the Arts at 12:30pm. Doors will open at 12:30pm and the ceremony will start around 1:00pm.
