Frances Poff Sowers

Frances Poff Sowers, 76, of Pilot, went to be with the Lord on Friday March 14, 2025. She was a member of Beaver Creek Church. She was preceded in death by her parents: Millard and Ruby Poff; Son: Jack Thurston; grandson: Michael Thurston; two brothers and two sisters. Survived by Husband James W. Sowers; two sons: Gary Thurston (Brandy), Mark Thurston (Angela); daughter: Pamela Sowers; thirteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers: Millard “Junior” Poff (Frances), Herbert “Buddy” Poff (Shirley); numerous nieces and nephew. Funeral Services will be Wednesday March 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Wade officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Retreat Family Cemetery, Floyd. The family will receive friends Tuesday March 18, 2025, at Gardner Funeral Home from 5 until 7 PM.

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Mother, I remember so many memories of her. She was so kind and nice to me. She was like a second mother to me. Gary and Mark, if you need anything at all let me know, I mean anything. I remember I was there for yall when Jack died, I still miss him. She is in heaven now with the Lord free of pain of this world. Take care and God bless all of You.

I am so sorry for your loss and we are praying for the family. I was friends with Jack in the 3rd grade and still can remember him up until his untimely death 40 years ago.
