Jackie Millikin Gray

Jackie Millikin Gray of Surry, Virginia; beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, the love of her life, who also passed away on May 6 three years prior. They were married for 53 years at the time of Glenn’s passing.

Jackie was a 1965 graduate of Newport News High School. She met Glenn while working at the telephone company in the late 1960’s and they were wed in 1969. During their marriage, work moved them to different parts of the country with their longest residency being in Stuart VA.

While juggling all the responsibilities of being a wife and mother, Jackie still found time to enjoy a career. She was fluent in the world of insurance and accounting which allowed her numerous work opportunities as Glenn’s career expanded causing relocation. Through the course of her life, she owned an insurance company in North Carolina, managed accounting for Dr. John Kastretsios in Stuart, was an accounting assistant for Cindy Jones CPA in Stuart, Albert Hanna Legal Firm in El Dorado, AR., and Hendley and Associates CPA Firm in Cheraw, SC.  Upon their return to the Tidewater area, she took great pride in helping operate her cousin Jimmy’s insurance company, JSC Insurance, before her retirement.

A Southern Baptist born and bred; Jackie loved all of her church families and was an active member with her “special seat” in each sanctuary. She is a current member of Bacon’s Castle Baptist Church in Surry, VA. and a former member of both Calvary Baptist Church in Newport News and Stuart Baptist Church in Stuart.

Jackie is survived by her 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Kirk and his children J.R., Brennan, Aidan, Cooper and Kennedie, along with their mother Brandy, live in Wadsworth, OH. Keith and his wife Sara live in Woodbury, NJ with their 3 puppies. Daughter Kelly and her husband Adam live in Floyd, VA with their children Eli and Ethan.

Always happily available to dispense her wisdom and advice, Jackie created a wonderful home environment for all she encountered. She was steadfast in her love for her family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at Bacon’s Castle Baptist Church in Surry VA. on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Bacon’s Castle Baptist Church.
