Ralph Luther Hylton

September 19, 1941 - July 11, 2025

Ralph Luther Hylton, 83, of Floyd, finished his journey on earth and went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loved ones and family on July 11, 2025. He was a lifelong timber cutter. Ralph loved all sports attending many of his grandchildren’s games and was an avid Virginia Tech fan. Ralph served his country in the National Guard and Army Reserve and was honorably discharged after 6 years of service obtaining the rank of Staff Sargent. He was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Era Hylton; one son: Matthew Ralph Hylton; siblings: Harold Hylton, Doris Drake; Nephew: Dale Hylton. He is survived by: Amanda (Mandy) Harbor (Allen) of Riner, Jeffrey Hylton (Amber) of Staunton, Erik Hylton of Wytheville, Tammy Hartl (Ritchie) of Shiner, TX; one sister: Christine Morrison (Randolph) of Christiansburg, VA; grandchildren: Misti, Alyson, Hillary, Parker, Sarah, Elijah, Xander, Jennifer, Cassidy; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday July 18, 2025, at 2 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry King officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before service time. To honor Ralph’s commitment to Virginia Tech the family ask for attendees to wear your favorite VT apparel.
