Alma Yearout

July 25, 1929 - December 29, 2025

Alma Yearout, 96, of Floyd, VA passed away peacefully in her sleep, Monday evening at Skyline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Alma graduated from Floyd High School and always enjoyed joining her classmates for school reunions.

She retired as a supervisor from Skyline Sportswear where she taught many women to sew. She enjoyed sewing all her life, making clothes for herself and her family. Alma was well known for her amazing quilts which she gifted to family and close friends.

She was a loving wife to the late Clarence Yearout and daughter to Aubrey and Nannie Moran, also deceased.

Alma is survived by three daughters: Annette Yearout, Janice Yearout-Patton (Michael Patton), and Rebecca Eggleston; two grandchildren: Erin Yearout-Patton (Matthew Montgomery, and Elliott Yearout-Patton (Ladonna). Also surviving are five great-grandsons: Malachi Montgomery, Abel, Forest, River, and Draper Yearout-Patton; two nephews: Bobby and Dale Moran.

Alma was a lifelong gardener, one year canning a record setting 400 cans of green beans.

Like her late husband Clarence, she enjoyed flowers, especially roses. They enjoyed sharing both their garden produce and flowers with others.

She was a faithful, long-time member of Red Oak Grove Church of the Brethren with over 20 years of perfect attendance. Alma loved the Lord and many dear church friends.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff at Skyline for their gracious constant care for Mother.

Funeral Services will be Saturday Jan. 3, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Hebron Quesenberry and Pastor Richard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Red Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday Jan. 3, from 12 noon until service time.

Alma was a very sweet and thoughtful lady. Alma sang in the choir at church, so did I. She always kept me on the right notes when I would forget them. Alma had a tremendous alto singing voice and you could hear her out of everyone else. She knew the Bible, the scriptures and her cooking was superb. Alma was a great friend and I love her and will miss her. God Bless the family in this time of sorrow. HEAVEN JUST RECEIVED ANOTHER ANGEL.
