A. Bruce Neira
June 04, 1956 - January 11, 2026
A. Bruce Neira, 69, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on January 11, 2026, in Floyd, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents Art and Lyn Neira from Richmond, VA. Bruce was loved by so many for his generous heart and beautiful spirit. He deeply loved and devoted himself to both his natural and his chosen family.
Bruce is also well known as a talented carpenter who built numerous homes and additions in and around Floyd County. He was also involved in so much from tree planting to recycling, making and selling grapevine wreaths, and rescuing friends in need at any time of the day or night. Bruce had a great regard and appreciation for nature and the environment and respect and honor of the Native American peoples and their culture.
Bruce was also a wonderful athlete who loved basketball, horseshoes, volleyball, badminton, and hacky sack and was a HUGE fan of Duke basketball and Redskins football.
Bruce is survived by his loving and devoted partner, Connie Colloca, and his sisters Sandy Goulding (David) and Betsy Fodor (Chuck). He is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Kevin and Katherine Goulding and Alison and Amanda Fodor along with many, many kids near and far who considered him their Uncle Bruce.
There will be no formal services but there will be a gathering of friends and family in the Spring to honor the legacy of a one-of-a-kind man. There will definitely be no hand holding, circles or Kumbayah moments per Bruce’s request, just a come together and party on! Donations in his memory can be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, Nature Conservancy in Virginia, Community Housing Partners – Emergency Home Repair Program.
