Michael Lee Carr

December 12, 1955 - April 09, 2026

Michael Lee Carr, 70, of Floyd, VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 9^th, 2026, surrounded at home by his loving family. Michael was a man of faith, showing his love of the Lord with his generous actions. Michael worked for 52 years for the Floyd Co. school transportation system, starting as a student driver and working his way up to Transportation Supervisor. After retirement he continued driving a regular bus route. Michael enjoyed farming, raising beef cattle and collecting antique tractors which he drove in the annual Floyd Tractor Fun Run and various parades. He loved to travel with his family in the camper experiencing God’s beauty through hiking and bicycling.

 He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Marie Carr.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years: Rosemary Spangler Carr; daughters: Christy and Brittany Carr; a special grand dog: Darcy; Sister: Sherry Hartsock (Ron); brother: Darrell Carr (Sonya); sister-in-law: Vicky Shaffer (Ron); brothers-in-law: Tommy Spangler (Cappy), Kenneth Spangler (Donna). A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Funeral services will be Sunday April 12, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor John Ingram and Pastor Terry Semones officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 Noon until service time.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Vest Cemetery c/o Denise Peters 142 Daniels Run Rd. Copper Hill, VA 24079.

The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, calls, visits, cards and assistance during Michael’s long and hard fought battle with cancer, it was greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.

I was so sorry to hear of Michael's passing. He drove our bus when I was in high school and I have always remembered him as being especially kind and helpful. My prayers and hugs go out to his family.

Michael was one of Glenn's favorite people in Floyd County. They worked together at the bus garage, and he always spoke fondly of Mike. He was just simply a GOOD person. So sorry for his passing. Love and sympathy to Rosemary and his girls.Sincerely, Wilma.

To the family sorry for your loss praying God is with you in the healing of your loss as i know he can and leave you good memories of him as he was a great guy to know ! I remember God using him to encourage us just before my son was killed in an auto accident and others there as well then ! He was in a good church !

As second cousins, Michael was a loyal son to his father and mother.....So sorry for his sickness journey these last few years and pray that the Lord will wrap his arms around his wife and daughters.
