Peggy Woodward Eskew

January 20, 1954 - June 03, 2026

Peggy Eskew was a beloved daughter of Eva Lamb Woodward and James William Woodward. She is survived by her devoted husband Joe Crawford Eskew Jr., son and daughter in-law, B.J. and Mandy Eskew, daughter and son in-law, Jennifer and Don Overton, Jill and Gerald Wingfield, Julie and P.C. Wells, Sasha and Craig Simpkins. Peggy was Mawmaw to Triston Overton, Autumn Wingfield (Ethan), Brady Wells, Lettie, Everett, and Beckett Simpkins, Harper, Maggie, and Owen Eskew, and great grand-son Tayton Rigdon. She is together again in eternal peace with her beloved son Christopher Eskew. Peggy leaves behind 7 of 9 siblings, alongside a host of nieces and nephews.

Peggy dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker. She was a remarkable gardener who found joy in her many flowers. A gifted cook, Peggy expressed her love through homecooked meals with family gathered around the table. Above all her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and the life she built with her loving husband, Joe.

A woman of great faith, Peggy loved the Lord and was committed to her church family at Abundant Life Fellowship. Know for her vibrant personality and sharp sense of humor, she always kept her family and friends laughing. Her smile could light up a room and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

We are incredibly grateful to the compassionate staff at Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House and the dedicated family members who lovingly assisted with Peggy’s care.

Please join our family as we gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Peggy Eskew. We will honor her memory on Sunday afternoon, June 14, at 4:00 p.m. At the home of Joe and Peggy 2035 High Rock Hill Road Pilot, VA 24138.

A potluck meal will immediately follow the service. We invite you to bring a side dish or dessert to share if you are able.

All expressions of sympathy, including flowers, honorary donations to Sheila S. Strauss Hospice House, and cards are welcome.

Peggy was a remarkable person. She had a great personality and a beautiful smile Peggy always thought of her family and friends before she thought of herself that’s why Roy and admired about Peggy. She’s very caring, loving and giving there will never be another ladies like Peggy with that beautiful smile and big heart. I met Peggy through oncology parking up inLewis gale Hospital, and when I met first- met her, she was genuine, caring, and loving. She inspired me in so many ways that’s hard for me to talk about. And she has a wonderful, wonderful family and beautiful grandkids and I know that she’s happy now knowing that she’s with her son Chris up in heaven who she dearly missed since of passing . last Easter now they’ll be able to do the things in life that they have been able to do since he was gone, so Peggy, please enjoy your time with your son up in heaven and smile as you run through the grass and see the cows run through the fields. Love, Jimmy
