Linda Covolo Wimmer
March 17, 1944 - July 12, 2026
Linda Covolo Wimmer, 82, of Floyd, Virginia, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 12, 2026.
Born on March 17, 1944, in Washington, D.C., Linda was the daughter of the late Giovanni Battista Covolo and Edith Campbell Covolo Dodson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Wimmer; her brothers, Ray Campbell and Robert Covolo; and her grandson, Gavin Mitchell.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Becky Lewis(Andrew); her son, Andy Wimmer (Angel); her grandchildren, Ryan Lewis (Sierra), Jessica Lewis (Tyler), Kayla Graham (Lucas), Karli Ramsdell (Nathan), and Layla Donathan; and her three great-grandchildren, Asher, Deacon, and Lillian.
Linda dedicated many years of service to Floyd County Schools, where she found great joy in the relationships she built with both teachers and students. She loved sharing stories about the people she worked along side and the many young lives she touched throughout her career.
An artist at heart, Linda was always creating something beautiful, with countless projects that reflected her creativity and generous spirit. Above all, her family was the center of her life. She treasured every opportunity to be together with those she loved, creating memories and stories that will be cherished for generations. Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared and the memories she created will ensure that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She deeply missed the love of her life, Richard, and her family finds comfort in knowing they are now joyfully reunited in Heaven.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Linda's life onFriday, July 17, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Levine Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A piece of my heart is broken at the lost of my friend and water aerobics partner. Her love of family and friends was one of her greatest attributes. We talked about family and grandchildren. She will be missed, but she is with Richard which I know she missed tremendously. Rest in peace Linda your job is over. Friend forever Margaret Andrews.
