Frances Alberta Martin

October 06, 1922 - January 08, 2014

Frances Alberta Profitt Martin, 91, of Floyd, went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. She was glad to be relieved of this earthly body, and looked forward to being in Christ’s presence with all of her loved ones who have gone ahead of her. Frances was a very crafty person. She made many beautiful things such as: dolls, foot stools, trash cans, spreads for furniture, quilts, and anything she could think of. She loved to sew and make clothes for herself and children. She also did a lot of sewing for other people when they asked. She was a member of Stonewall Primitive Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed her fellowship with the members and the teachings of Christ. She is now going home to join her loved ones: her husband of 69 years, Elvin Martin; mother and dad, Getter and Alberta Profitt; and nine brothers and sisters who have gone ahead of her. She is survived by four children, Paul J. Martin and wife, Barbara of Floyd; Glenwood J. Martin and wife, Donna of Christiansburg; Frances Norma Jean Conner and husband, Edwin C. Conner of Copper Hill; and Frank E. Martin of Floyd; eight grandchildren, Cecil and Leisa Martin of Floyd; Tammy Martin- Worley and Stacy Martin of Christiansburg; Sandra Huff, Teresa Martin and Cindy Weaver of Floyd; and Richard Martin; eight great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, one step-great-great grandchild; one brother, James Profitt and wife, Frances of Floyd; two sisters, Margaret Jones of Salem; and Helen Atkins and husband, Richard of Elliston; brother-in-law, Elmer Webb of Floyd; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Chlonetia Martin and Arlie Thompson of Floyd; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mavin and Jack Steel of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Coreen Martin, Christiansburg; several nieces and nephews.
