William Wesley Utt

August 11, 1957 - February 26, 2015

William Wesley Utt of Check, answered the call to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Feb. 26, 2015. He fought a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). He was born in Carroll County on Aug 11, 1957. He most recently was employed as a supervisor in the utilities department at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Lesley and his father, William H. Utt. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 30 years, Vicki Akers Utt; children, Tonya Phillips and Melanie Bishop; mother, Zana Q. Utt; brother, Gregory Utt; sisters, Bridgett Phillips and Sandy Shockley; grandchildren, Allison Bishop and Riley Phillips; and many extended family members. Wesley was a true outdoors man, who was happiest when spending time with family and friends. He was a loving, kind hearted man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday, Feb.28th at Gardner Funeral Home, 202 E. Oxford St, Floyd, VA where a service celebrating Wesley's life will be held on Sunday, March 1st at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ben Whittaker officiating. Interment will follow in Isaac Banks Cemetery, Fancy Gap, VA. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in memory of Wesley's life to ALS Association, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855 or Omega Baptist Church, 2075 Den Hill Rd, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
