Pearl "Dollie" Lee

April 14, 1918 - April 16, 2010

Pearl Marie “Dollie” Young Lee Dollie Lee, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 in her home after a gradual decline in health. Dollie was the fifth of seven children born to Dallas and Mary Jones Young. She was born April 14, 1918 in Floyd County, Virginia, and lived there most of her life. She resided in Christiansburg, Virginia in her later years. She was married to Arthur Elgin Lee in 1940 until his death in 1976. A long time member of Floyd Baptist Church, Dollie was always eager and happy to help others in need. She was accomplished and hard working, both in the sewing factory and in her garden and kitchen. Dollie will be remembered for her humor and for her kind and gracious nature. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Celeste Lee, grandchildren, Alison and Christopher Lee, of Christiansburg; dear sister, Minnie Sweeney, of Christiansburg, sister-in-law, Anna Young, of Roanoke, and several nieces and nephews and special friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Todd Triplett and Dr. Dave Holladay officicating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit the family at Gardner Funeral Home on Sunday evening April 18 from 6-8 p.m. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice and all of the private duty nurses for their help and kindness toward Dollie.
