Hazel Aliene McNeil Sowers

Hazel Aliene McNeil Sowers, 92, of Pilot, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday September 25, 2015. Aliene was the daughter of the late Everett and Nora McNeil of Pilot. Aliene was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years: James Arlo Sowers; one daughter and son-in-law: Phyllis Nolley (Vernon); one son: Kenneth R. Sowers; three brothers: Junior McNeil, Raymond McNeil, and Aaron McNeil; two sisters: Margie Allman and Ada Mae Morgan. Surviving are daughters & sons-in-law, Joyce & Dewaine Smith of Pilot, VA, Karen & John O’Connor of Newnan, GA; two daughters-in-law, Connie V. Sowers of Pilot and Wanda Nolley, of Pilot. She leaves 7 grandchildren and their spouses: Darrell Smith (Dixie), Pilot; Vangie Radford, Lynchburg; Kimberly Nester (Randall) Floyd; Corey Nolley (Susan), Check; Lynette Vest (Bryan), Floyd; Jennifer Gardner (Chris), Goode; Julie Wade (Dave), Hiwassee Two brothers and one brother-in-law: Alvin McNeil (Betty), Pilot; Carl McNeil (Julie), Snowville; William Morgan, Roanoke; three sisters and two sisters-in-law: Pauline Pittsinger; Salem, Clover Ratcliff, Pilot; Lois Sedlacek (Ron), Pilot; Gloria McNeil, Pilot; Ocie McNeil, Christiansburg; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Don Sowers (Lula Mae), Laurel Ridge; Margie Sutphin (Cecil), Pilot; Jean Graham (Kenneth), Salem; sister-in-law: Corine Sowers, Floyd. She also leaves 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson. Funeral Services will be Monday September 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Gardner Funeral Home with Rev. Vinton Quesenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Huffville Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday after 4 PM at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 4 until 7 PM.
