Wilson Harvey Blackwell

January 27, 1919 - October 14, 2015

Harvey began his earthly journey in Floyd County, VA on January 27, 1919 as the youngest child of William Isaac and Eliza Blackwell. He loved and is loved by his family more than any human could imagine. Next to his family, his joy and passion was his farm, land, and cattle. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army Air Corp as an airplane mechanic. His earthly journey ended October 14th, 2015 when God came and took him home. Left to cherish his memory is his wife and best friend for more than 64 years, Jaqueline Poff Blackwell and daughters Carolyn (and Doug) Sneed, Annette Blackwell, and Yvonne Blackwell. Grandson Dan DeMartin (and Edina). Great Grandchildren Hunter & Andrianna DeMartin. He is also survived by several brother and sister in-law’s, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Carilion Hospice staff and his caregiver, Sandra Hartman. Funeral Services will be Sunday October 18th, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery (Head-of-the-River), Check Va. Friends may call Saturday after 3 PM at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 3 until 5 PM.
