Edith Franklin Gardner, 91, of Fairlawn, passed away at Carilion NRV Medical Center on February 7, 2016. She was born in Hillsville, VA on October 11, 1924. She was a member of Fairlawn Presbyterian Church and Circle # 2. Edith was a dedicated homemaker whose pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard E. Gardner, Sr.; daughter, Shirley Phillips; son, Gregory Gardner; her parents, Jackson & Mattie Franklin; and sister, Vergie Jones. She is survived by a son Leonard Edward Gardner, Jr.; two grandchildren, Traci Phillips Patton (Robbie) and Brian Phillips (Crystal); and six great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Cassandra, and Sydney Patton, and Nicholas, Alexander, and Madelynn Phillips. Funeral Services will be Wednesday February 10, 2016 at 11 AM at Fairlawn Presbyterian Church with Pastor Allison Unroe officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn, VA. Friends may call after 6 PM Tuesday at Fairlawn Presbyterian Church where the family will be from 6 until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fairlawn Presbyterian Church Building Fund 6900 Pulaski Ave., Fairlawn, VA 24141.
